Ballindaloch Castle
Lagmore, Ballindalloch, Banffshire AB37 9AA
Description:
Ballindaloch Castle is the “Pearl of the North”, a Victorian-style residential castle belonging to an ancient Scottish family. The castle is located in the Seas area of Scotland.
The castle was built in the 16th century, as evidenced by the date "1546", carved on a stone beam of one of the bedrooms. In 1645, after the Battle of Inverloha, Ballindalloch was looted and burned by the Marquis of Montrose, as a result of which it had to be rebuilt. The castle for four and a half centuries is the family estate of the Macpherson Grant family.
The castle is practically not advertised anywhere, it is not even included in the routes for tourists. But that's kind of a good thing. Here you can retire in beautiful gardens, walk around the rooms, soak up all the mysticism and history of this beautiful place. On summer days, very few tourists visit the castle, all of them rushing to visit upscale Scottish castles. But Ballindaloch deserves special attention. By the way, it is said that the dining room of Ballindaloch Castle is sometimes visited by the ghost of the Green Lady.
