Blair Castle
Blair Atholl, Pitlochry, Perthshire PH18 5TL, UK
Description:
Blair Castle (or, as the locals call it, Snow White Castle) is the personal property of the 11th Duke of Etoll and his family, but the doors of the castle are hospitable to anyone.
There's a lot to see here. Tourists from the doorstep are greeted by a friendly guide dressed in a kilt, or a girl playing the bagpipe - a traditional Scottish musical instrument. Above the entrance hangs the family coat of arms - a mandatory attribute of any family estate.
First of all, entering the castle, you get into a chic lobby, made in a hunting style: deer horns, stuffed animals, tapestries - everything here suggests that the owner is a passionate hunter. Next, you will find luxurious rooms and chambers of nobles, carefully collected collections of family silver, tapestries and embroidery, a collection of antiques and much more.
After a tour of the castle, be sure to look into the garden. Diana Grove with the largest larch and red fir in Britain, cute ponds, cozy benches and, of course, peacocks, proudly walking around the garden.
