Kodor Castle

Cawdor Castle, Nairn, Scotland, IV12 5RD

Description:

Kodor Castle is the place that lovers of medieval Scotland seek to find. The castle is really saturated with the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. This castle is a beautiful and cozy large palace, still the home of the Kodor family.

The castle is still privately owned: it is now home to the widow of the sixth Count of Kodori Angelik Lazanski von Bukov. Here you can see the original art gallery, and amazing flowers of the local greenhouse for decorating rooms, and original things in souvenir shops - such are not found in any other castle in Scotland.

There is also a ghost in the castle. It is believed that the ghost of an armless lady is from the XIX century and was once the daughter of Count Kodori, who once discovered that the girl is in love with a young man from a family hostile to Kodori. The Earl revealed a terrible secret when he accidentally ran into lovers in their secret dating place, and became so furious at the betrayal of his daughter that he cut off her hands with a sword so that she could never again hug her beloved. In addition to the unfortunate ghost in the castle, you will be accompanied everywhere by signs with witty comments of the late sixth Count Kodori about a particular room or the history of objects in them. In the castle you can see the old and modern operating kitchens, visit the bookstore, and in the vicinity - walk along the cherry alley and relax in the garden among bright fragrant flowers. Kodor is the only castle in the world built around a tree.

Codor Castle is located about 15 miles east of Inverness (about thirty minutes by car) and five miles from the seaside town of Nairn.
