Glasgow Transport Museum

100 Pointhouse Road, Glasgow G3 8RS, United Kingdom

About the company:

One of the many attractions of the Scottish city of Glasgow is the Museum of Transport, built with the money of the city council with the support of the Heritage Lottery Fund. There are about 3000 exhibits – from locomotives to ships, retro cars and bicycles. The museum also houses models of royal carriages and 150 interactive guides that tell the history of transport.

In the side compartments of the Museum of Transport are the historic interiors of Glasgow cafes and pubs of the 1900s. At the impressive southern facade of the structure at anchor is one of the five surviving sailboats called Glenlee. It is not only a decoration, but also one of the most fascinating exhibits of the museum.

In the form of the building of the Museum of Transport, in accordance with its specialization, the idea of movement is clearly expressed. The building has a broken dynamic shape. The body of the structure is sharply curved in the middle. Outside, the building is sheathed with galvanized metal, which gives it a certain severity. Entrance to the Museum of Transport is absolutely free.
