St. David's Cathedral
The Close, St Davids, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire SA62 6RH, UK
Description:
The beginning of the history of the cathedral is the distant XII century, when Bishop Bernard ordered the erection of a cathedral in honor of St. David. David was known for bringing Christianity to the Viking and Norman lands and spreading it, after which he was elevated by the church to the rank of saints.
The relics of David were placed in the cathedral, and two pilgrimages to them were equal to one visit to Rome. After that, believers from all over the world began to come to the relics of the saint.
The cathedral itself is made in a fairly calm manner, without frills and chic. Inside it is decorated with wood and stone carvings, numerous stained glass plots.
St. David’s Cathedral is not only the religious center of Wales, but also a cultural center: it annually hosts a festival of classical music, attracting many people from all over the world.
