Swansea Coast Museum
Victoria Road, Swansea SA1 1SN, Wales, UK
About the company:
The Swansea Coast Museum combined the collections of two institutes: the Industrial and Maritime Museum of Wales and the Swansea Maritime and Industrial Museum. The museum features industrial, sports and marine exhibits that testify to the greatness of the city’s industry and economy.
According to the plan of the two institutes, the exposition was supposed to show a picture of the development of industry in the region over the past 400 years. The museum is located on the territory of the former dock. Superstructures, three different entrances, a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea, yachts and swans, a small park area around the museum – all this was carefully designed. Museum exhibits such as steam engines, machine tools and steam hammers emphasize the lightness and transparency of the new building.
The curators of the museum monitor the visit of the museum, which shows the percentage of attendance of the museum by local residents and tourists. Very interesting and unusual for museums. The most interesting thing is that visiting the museum is free. It is a public policy for museums and the heritage of Wales.
