Los Nevados National Park in Merida

Venezuela, Merida

Description:

Los Nevados National Park is located in Merida, Venezuela.

Special picturesque national park Los Nevados give the powerful peaks of the Andes, the highest of which, 5,000-meter Mount Bolivar, climbers 80 years ago dragged a bust of Simon Bolivar.

Los Nevados Park is a dense forest, rocky paths and a secluded colonial settlement that once served as a garrison for the Spanish conquistadors. All this beauty is at an altitude of 3000 meters, so you need to be prepared for sharp temperature changes (at night it can drop to minus 17).

Los Nevados was once accessible by the Teleferico Cable Car, but is now under renovation.

Travel agencies organize trips to the mountains in jeeps with stops in tiny villages and farms. The best way to travel in a national park is by donkey or mule.

Conductors can be asked to show the places where spectacle bears and cougars are found. Seeing animals is a small chance, but the landscapes against the backdrop of the Andes caps are very beautiful and interesting.
