One-day Balaton
Description:
We will change the city quarters to the landscapes of Balaton, with its turquoise on a weathery day, the more so that on the freeway we will get here in just a little more than an hour.
Although Balaton is known and popular in the world primarily as a water resort providing a cloudless summer holiday, the lake and its surroundings at any time of the year offer an unforgettable experience of many fascinating attractions.
Spring and autumn are not the shores of the lake-period of the merger of man and nature. In winter, the most interesting event on Balaton is the ice-covered surface of the lake, along which buers are rapidly rushing, lovers of speed skating try not to lag behind them.
In general, it is undoubtedly worth, along with the charms of summer holidays on the Hungarian Sea, to discover its other, also beautiful and interesting face! On the west side is the town of Kesthei, where you can see the Baroque palace of the Count Feshtich family with a beautiful old park surrounding it.
Near it is the resort of Hévíz, which is extremely popular in Europe and Russia, as there is a unique thermal lake. There are only two such thermal natural reservoirs in the world and only one in Europe. The southern coast is flat and sandy, beckons with parks, promenade and beaches.
The resort of Siofok is the birthplace of the world-famous composer, the king of the operetta Imre Kalman, and if you wish, you can visit his house-museum. The northern hilly shore of Balaton is famous for its wonderful wines: good wine is born where the vine is reflected in the Balaton, the sunny slopes of the hills, the surface of which is covered with rock of volcanic origin, are known among connoisseurs as a valuable wine region.
Crystal clear surface, white sailboats, seagulls rapidly dissecting the air with nothing incomparable Tihan panorama! Two tower church, towering above the landscape, from afar attracts the attention of travelers to the Tihan Peninsula, whose territory is declared a protected area.
The church and Benedictine monastery, founded in 1055, are the oldest buildings in the vicinity of Balaton. The crypt of the old church has survived to this day.
From the alley, departing from the church, there is a delightful view of the lake and the surrounding area. Tihani also has its own lake: 700 meters long, completely independent of Balaton Belsho-to (Inner Lake), blue from afar with lavender plantations blooming in spring.
The ferry marina is always busy traffic: in this place the Balaton is already everything, the distance between the opposite banks is about 1.4. Every year in May, the season-opening sailing competitions are held in Balatonfüred, and in mid-summer Anna’s ball is held: thanks to the long-standing traditions that have developed here, many consider Balatonfüred the “capital” of the Hungarian sea.
Many hundreds of constantly fussing vacationers accommodate a wide walking alley, and the huge park is literally an island of peace for the city.
Balatonfüred is an ancient medical resort, although at one time visitors were attracted not by the lake itself, but by natural carbon dioxide sources, the healing water of which was used for medicinal purposes both for drinking and for taking various baths.
Near the spring, beating in the center of the park, there is a world-famous cardiological sanatorium, where people with cardiovascular diseases are treated. If desired, you can visit the city-museum Vesprem. From Lake Balaton through a very cozy, with a lively country life resort center, from which the forest romantic road, crossing the valley of the stream Nostori, whose waters once set in motion water mills, leads through the Bacon Highlands to Vesprem.
For the sake of acquaintance with the fortress district of Vesprem “the city of queens”, its wonderful zoo or just walk through the streets of an ancient settlement, it is worth driving 12 kilometers and finding yourself in the city, which 1000 years ago was founded by the first Hungarian king Istvan I St. The city was almost completely destroyed during the Turkish occupation, the battles of the Turks and the Habsburgs.
The restoration of the city began in the early 18th century, today the Baroque character of Vesprem attracts a large number of tourists every year. Most of the main attractions of the city are in the small but charming Palace district. The Gothic Chapel of Gisella contains a modest collection of church art and is best known for its 13th-century frescoes. The Dejö Latzko Museum contains exhibits dedicated to local peoples (art, clothing, tools, utensils, etc.). D.
A beautiful panoramic view of the surroundings of the city is worth climbing to the observation deck of the Fire Tower.
