In the footsteps of Empress Sisi

Description:

In the footsteps of Empress Sisi, excursion to the palace

The charm and devotional love of the Empress with a sad fate for Hungary served as a cult of Sisi in our country. Count Szechenyi wrote about her: “The Empress is the most beautiful woman in the world”, and he called her a female angel who defied her husband to protect the interests of Hungarians. We will visit with you a baroque masterpiece, one of the most famous palace estates of Hungary - the palace of Count Antal Graszalkovich I, the owner of the town of Gödöle, which is only 30 km from Budapest, and designed by the famous architect András Meyerhoffer, which was donated to Sisi as a sign of devotion from the Hungarian people. It is the second largest palace complex after Versailles. The total area of the castle is 17 thousand square meters, and the adjacent Elizabeth Park occupies 29 hectares, named so in honor of Empress Elizabeth, the favorite queen of the Hungarian people, who was honored and respected here during her lifetime. She spent a lot of time here with her youngest daughter Valeria, I will help you to feel the spirit of this extraordinary person, about the life of which there are many legends - from a carefree childhood in Bavaria, life at the Vienna court with its hard etiquette, coronation in Buda, uninterrupted wanderings, to her murder by the anarchist Luigi Luckeni on the embankment of Geneva.

If you wish, after the palace, you can continue our excursion to the horse farm. In this case, the tour will take about 8-9 hours.

Literally a few kilometers from the town of Gödöllö, we can visit the traditional horse show, where guests will be greeted with a pint of Palinki - Hungarian vodka, ride on a wagon, having previously shown only colorful clothes of shepherds. Let’s look at the stables, the Horse Museum, in the park there is a large playground and a small zoo. After enjoying the equestrian performance, we will end our day in a Charde-Hungarian restaurant, where we will try Hungarian cuisine and wine to the charming gypsy music.
