"Near Budapest" by Gödöllö and Váz
Description:
On this tour we will see interesting and beautiful places near Budapest, in the north-east direction from it. Diverse, interesting landscapes and towns, but without large, tedious moves.
Gödöllö is known mainly for the "Sissi Palace", which is officially referred to as the "Summer Royal Residence". A beautiful palace in the Baroque style, once created for a famous politician - an aristocrat of the era of Queen Maria Theresa, Count Antal Grashshalkovich. The palace was bought by the treasury in 1987 as a summer residence for the rulers of the country - at that time for King Franz Joseph Habsburg and his wife, for Queen Elizabeth (who is known by many books and films as Queen Sissi). In the palace there is a very interesting and rich historical exhibition about the era of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, and the picturesque park of the palace in the style of English park building pleases the eyes. Fans of the legend of Sissi recommend visiting a small city park near the palace, where you can bow in front of the monument to the beloved Queen of Hungary.
After Gödello, we keep the path through the picturesque hilly terrain through interesting towns towards the episcopal residence of Vác. On the way there will be an opportunity to taste one authentic Hungarian restaurant in one of the towns.
Before reaching Vac in the city of Vereshedhaz, we will visit one very peculiar attraction - the Bears' Shelter. This is a kind of zoo on the outskirts of this town, where many dozens of bears and wolves live on a large territory (behind the fence, but almost as in freedom). Many of these animals used to perform in circuses, the institution was originally created on a humanitarian basis, but over the years has gained great fame and popularity among the Hungarian public.
To Vats optionally we can still walk through one very beautiful botanical garden in the town of Vatzratot. (Really think about this option from spring to autumn)
Vác - one very nice town near Budapest - belongs to the famous cities of the Danube Izbudna region, located near both Visegrad and Szentendre, but not on the right, but on the left bank of the river. A city with a rich medieval history, a beautiful historical center, rich temples and a magnificent Danube promenade. In this city we will see the only triumphal arch of Hungary.
