Archbishop's Cathedral in Esztergom

Hungary, Budapest, Esztergom Archdiocese Cathedral

Description:

The Basilica of St. Adalbert and the Ascension of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Catholic church that is the largest and highest in Hungary. The double name of the cathedral is associated with the repeated destruction of the temple. Initially, the basilica was lit in honor of St. Albert, and after the reconstruction in honor of the Virgin Mary. The basilica contains a huge altar image on a single canvas, a treasury with unique jewels of Hungary. Under the dome standing on the observation deck you can admire the beautiful view of the Danube and the whole city.

You can get there by car or bus from Budapest. You can also walk across the Maria Valeria Bridge from Slovakia.
