Museum of Chiam (Tiam) Culture
at the intersection of Tran Phu and Tran Phu Street. Bach Dang, Da Nang.
About the company:
One of the most interesting museums in Da Nang. The museum was founded in 1915 by the French School of Far East Studies. Today, the museum houses the richest collection of Tam sculpture in the world. Most of the samples are carved stone products that look just amazing.
A guide to the museum, compiled in three languages, was prepared by the director of the museum, Chang Ki Phuong, who is considered an outstanding researcher of the ancient civilization of the Chams. The guide contains detailed information on each of the exhibits. Now the museum presents about 300 samples of skillful stone carving and products made of burnt clay, dating from the VII - XV centuries. These are original examples of Tamsk creativity, amazing, original art.
In the history of the art of the Chams, two periods stand out. Until the X century it was emotional and quite expressive. From the X to the XIV century, more formal features appeared due to the decline of Champa, who participated in heavy wars. All the exhibits came to the museum as a result of archaeological excavations in different parts of the country.
