Kuan Soo Temple

76-80 Quan Su, Tran Hung Dao, Hoan Kiem, District, Hanoi, Vietnam

Description:

One of the most significant attractions of Hanoi is the Buddhist temple Quan Su, built in the XV century. It is one of the four ancient temples of the city and the main building of the Buddhist sangha of Vietnam.

The pagoda has been rebuilt several times. The brightly decorated building of the temple consists of three tiers, in front of the entrance there are wide gates of wrought iron. In the center of the pagoda is a large wooden pillar, on its top are the remains of the Buddha, to whom the temple is dedicated. His original bronze statue weighing three tons is in the prayer hall. Painted and embroidered images of the Buddha are placed in the “golden hall” of the temple.

The community of the pagoda consists of monks and their students, as well as lay people who settled in the residential premises of the temple. Here are stored ancient manuscripts with poems of the XVII century. The temple is currently open to visitors.
