Presidential Palace of Hanoi
1 Hung Vuong, Dien Bien, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi, Vietnam
Description:
The Presidential Palace of Hanoi is a historic three-story building built in 1906. It stands as a memory of the French contribution to the architectural splendor of Vietnam. It was originally the residence of the Governor-General of Indochina.
This bright mustard-colored building is made in the French colonial style. Its luxurious interior features elements of the Italian Renaissance with elaborate columns and torn gables. The palace has a typical European structure, and only a beautiful garden of mango trees reminds that it is located in an Asian country. At the entrance to the palace there is a massive gate with a clock made of wrought iron.
In 1954, the building was adopted by the Vietnamese government and converted into the residence of the President. Official receptions and other administrative meetings are held here.
