Booking tickets for the show in the puppet theater on the water
Description:
My tourists often ask me, “What is there in Vietnam that is not in other countries?”
I say boldly, 'Wooden puppets in the water.'
This art form is about 1,000 years old. It appeared in northern Vietnam during the Li dynasty.
In those days, in villages on the water surface of rivers, lakes and ponds, adult villagers played short performances in front of children. The water surface served as a stage, and the characters of the scenes were wooden puppets. They were skillfully controlled with ropes and poles and dolls jumped, danced and tumbled in the water. On the water stage, the usual everyday peasant life was displayed: planting rice in the field, fishing, hunting a fox that destroys poultry, celebrating the festival, as well as dancing mythical animals - dragons, phoenixes, unicorns.
Today, this art form is highly appreciated by UNESCO and recognized as a “cultural heritage of mankind”.
The show takes place in the theater hall accompanied by live music and voice. Within an hour you will be presented with 17 scenes.
The show is very popular among local and foreign tourists, so tickets must be booked in advance.
Have a good time!
