Reunification Palace

Nam Kỳ Khở i Nghĩ a, Bế n Th nh, Quậ n 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Description:

The Reunification Palace, like many places in Vietnam, is not only an architectural structure, but also a memory of the Vietnam War. It reminds me of a lot... On the morning of April 30, 1975, a huge Soviet-made tank demolished the gates of the Independence Palace, symbolizing the end of the protracted war between North and South Vietnam.

The Reunification Palace is mainly used for display to tourists, but sometimes official events are held here. The zeitgeist of the time has been preserved in the Palace simply stunningly, it looks exactly like it did in the 70s - a massive white building with spacious offices with massive furniture, red carpets and old telephone sets. There is another amazing element: on the roof of the building stands an American helicopter - another symbol of the Cold War, like the Soviet tank.
