Gift day

Description:

Gift exchange is an important element of the holiday
Gift Day falls on the first day after Christmas. And despite the fact that there are many opinions and speculations about where it came from and how it is celebrated, in Jamaica, as in many other countries, Gift Day is a public holiday.

For example, one theory suggests that the roots of this holiday lead to the UK, where Gifts Day is also known as St. Stephen’s Day. On this day, December 26, boxes were opened in churches, in which parishioners dropped coins for the poor.

The traditions of this holiday, which are ingrained today, prescribe to celebrate it with a large friendly family, as well as to remember all those who helped you during the year. And, of course, on the day of gifts to do without the gifts themselves? The exchange of gifts is an important element of the holiday. In addition, on this day it is allowed to return unnecessary gifts given on Christmas Day.
