Kingston

Liberation Park (Emancipation)

Description:

The park is located in New Kingston, at the intersection of Knutsford Boulevard and Oxford Road. It is a nice and beautiful park, and also has the most famous Kingston sculpture.

On July 31, 2002, the park was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Jamaica and was named Emancipation Park, as it was the year of the 170th anniversary of the abolition of slavery on the island (this holiday is celebrated annually on August 1).
