St. Catherine's Cathedral

near Barrett Street, Jamaica

Description:

St. Catherine’s Cathedral, also known as the Spanish City Cathedral, built in the mid-17th century, is located on the territory of modern Kingston and is an example of real architectural talent.

St. Catherine’s Cathedral is considered one of the ancient and unique buildings not only in the capital, but throughout the country – it is one of the few buildings of that time, almost completely preserved to our days, combining the stylistic features of the Middle Ages and classicism.

Visitors will be able to see the amazingly beautiful interior of the cathedral, many elements of which have survived to this day in their original form. Especially delightful is the magnificent stucco and wooden carving, as well as the iconostasis, many of whose icons are real works of art.
