The Glowing Lagoon
Description:
An evening excursion for those who are interested in seeing the “8 wonders of the world” – glowing in the dark water.
Located near the port city of Falmouth, where the Martha Bra River flows into the sea, the lagoon was a traditional place for unloading English ships. Decades later, scientists discovered another amazing feature in it: millions of microorganisms called dinoflagellates live here. Thanks to them, in the dark, an amazing glowing halo is formed around objects that excite water - whether it is a boat screw or a floating person.
Jamaica Lagoon is considered one of the 4 brightest in the world!
Of course, you should swim in the lagoon! The water is warm, shallow, there are no sharks and other horrors, and the sensations are unforgettable!
After bathing, lunch at a local restaurant is fish according to traditional Jamaican recipes, to choose from: fried or stewed.
Perhaps it is worth warning: the lagoon glows thanks to fluorescent microorganisms. At a full moon, the glow is weaker than on normal days. Also, after heavy rain, the glow may also be weaker.
