Nagasaki-ken, Nagasaki-shi, Motoomachi, 1 -7 9 Urakami Cathedral, Japan.
Description:
Urakami Cathedral is located in the city of Nagasaki and is also called the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This is a Catholic church, a cathedral that was destroyed in 1945 by a nuclear bombardment of the city. Now near the destroyed church built a new - modern Urakami.
The construction of the first temple was completed in 1925. The building was made in the Romanesque style and was one of the largest Catholic churches in the Far East. In 1945, a bomb was dropped 500 meters from the cathedral, at which point worship was held in Urakami and all the believers who were in the building died.
In 1980 a new church was built. It looks exactly the same as its predecessor – it is a structure of brown brick, with a triangular roof and two towers on the left and right sides. The temple has a large arched entrance door and three small crosses. The ruins of the first cathedral remained in their place, they are considered sacred and remind humanity that it is time to put an end to wars.
