Shinsaibashi Shopping Center
southern part of the city, Shinsaibashi quarter, Osaka, Japan
Description:
The shopping arcades of Sinsaibashi and the district of the same name are a real center of trade in Osaka. You can buy everything here. Elite boutiques coexist with tiny shops, designer goods - with consumer goods. Shops are accompanied by numerous eateries, cafes and restaurants. The dominant area is the covered street of Shinsaibashi-Suji. Here, in Sinsaibashi, the favorite place of local youth is based - the American Village with a corresponding range of goods.
The shopping quarter stretches for about 600 meters. There are two large department stores - Daimaru and Sogo, as well as about 180 small boutiques and restaurants.
Historically, the area got its name from one of the bridges built by local merchants, one of these merchants was Shinsaibashi Okada. The bridge did not survive, but the name of the merchant remained in the centuries.
