Hiking in the mountains. Mount Takao

Description:

This tour is suitable for nature lovers or tourists tired of the city bustle and stone jungle.

Mount Takao with a height of 599 meters is located west of Tokyo. This national park with rich nature is only an hour from the center. Many come to this mountain for beautiful views in November, when the trees turn red, in February, when plums bloom, and, of course, in the spring for sakura.
During the tour, a small part of the road we will pass along the cable car. The route is laid along the steepest part of the climb (31°), and it is the largest inclination angle of the cable car in Japan. You can also take a double lift. The lift trip is exciting. You are also getting closer to nature.
During the tour we will visit the park, which is home to about 40 Japanese monkeys. In the Yaso-en garden, located on the same territory as the monkey park, you can see about 500 varieties of wild grass.
We will see a huge Japanese cedar, whose roots protrude to the surface like the tentacles of an octopus, it is called “cedar octopus”.

The impressive Yakuoin temple is located along the route near the top of the mountain. Many visitors stop here to pray to the Shinto-Buddhist mountain deities Tengu and ask them for good luck. Statues of deities, one with a long nose and the other with a crow's beak, adorn the temple. They can be found elsewhere on the mountainside.

At the top of the mountain there is a beautiful view of Tokyo, Yokohama, as well as Mount Fuji.

On the way back, if desired, you can visit hot thermal springs.
