Description:

Sacred places of power of Mount Fuji and heavenly flight. (8:30 -18:30)
If you dream to see the majestic Mount Fuji, walk along the longest suspension bridge in the country, visit the samurai city of Mishima, where the temple of Mishima Taishya is located, learn the history of cold weapons "katana", see bizarre sculptures skillfully inscribed in the natural mountain landscape, then this excursion is for you. A trip to Shizuoka Prefecture will not just be an excursion, in this place you will want to spend a whole day resting from the noisy and crowded Tokyo.

On this trip we visit Shizuoka Prefecture, located in the southeastern part of Central Japan and having access to the Pacific Ocean. Halfway between Tokyo and Osaka, the area has long prospered both economically and culturally as the west of Japan meets the east. This region is known for its mild climate, picturesque nature, views of Mount Fuji and green tea.

More recently, tourists have the opportunity to see Fuji from a new point - in Mishima (Shizuoka Prefecture) opened the longest suspension bridge in the country, which overlooks the sacred mountain. The 400-metre bridge, called the Mishima Skywalk, is only accessible to pedestrians. Tourists with disabilities can also visit the bridge: its width makes it easy to separate two wheelchairs. Construction of the bridge cost 4 billion yen ($33 million)

At the beginning of the tour, we will go to the Mishima Skywalk or “Heavenly path Mishima” – so poetically called this bridge by locals. The trail was opened at the end of 2016, adding a very romantic observation deck to the tourist map of Japan. From here, there are picturesque views of Fuji, the Suruga Sea Bay and the Izu Peninsula. The path over the overgrown tree gorge, the depth of which reaches 70 meters, makes a strong impression. The ravine is all over overgrown with trees, so pedestrians who walk along the translucent mesh surface have the impression that they are above the “green forest sea”, As befits a Japanese tourist attraction, the Mishima Skywalk includes a small shopping center with souvenirs, a restaurant under clusters of live flowers and a cafe where special “sky coffee” is brewed.

After fresh impressions, we will make an excursion into the past and visit the ancient temple of Mishima Tais. This temple and Rakuyen gardens, once owned by Prince Komatsu Akihito, are considered lava attractions of the city. The settlement on the site of the modern city of Mishima, known since the end of the 7th century. It developed around the Shinto temple of Mishima Taisa, where we will direct our feet. During the Edo period, the Tokaido Road, which connected the capital with Kyoto, ran through Mishima, and one of the 53 postal stations of this route was located in the city. The sanctuary of Mishima-taisha is a Shinto sanctuary where deities such as the mountain god Oyamatsumi-no Mikoto and the goddess of happiness and luck Tsumihaye Kotoshironushi-no Kami are worshipped. The main hall has been declared an important cultural heritage site in Japan, and there are many other valuable structures in the sanctuary. There is a stone called Minamoto Yoritomo-ga-koshikata (where Minamoto no Yoritomo sat). It is believed that Minamoto no Yoritomo's wife, Masako Hojo, donated a small handmade box called "ume-makie tebako" to the sanctuary, and an exact copy of this box is kept in the sanctuary treasury. We will certainly look into this museum and listen to the story about the creation of unsurpassed Japanese weapons, about the “Katan”. About the formidable weapon of the samurai – the sword of the katana – heard even those who are not familiar with Japan. The best examples that have come down to us are equated with the highest values of the Land of the Rising Sun. The museum contains exhibits that are the national cultural heritage of Japan. And although the presented exposition can not be called huge, but here are exhibited not just rare, but unique art objects of different eras, regions of Japan and different schools. Various Thachi, Katana and Wakizashi are exhibited here, as well as separately Tsuba, Menuki, Kozuki and others.

After interesting stories on the territory of the temple, we will see a 1,200-year-old fragrant olive tree with a height of 10 meters, which was declared a natural monument of national importance.

At the sanctuary of Mishima Taisha, there is a shop that sells branded products of the Mishima region - "fukutaro", which are viscous rice cakes with wormwood and filling from sweet bean paste. Various festivals and events are held here all year round, so if the time of our visit coincides with one of them, we can enjoy traditional Japanese culture.

It's time to feed ourselves. We are waiting for a favorite delicacy of the Japanese - eel, or in Japanese unagi, an important element of nutrition in the Land of the Rising Sun. Lunch will be held in an old Japanese restaurant, where the recipe for making eel is inherited in one family. Eel - the third most popular fish in Japan It is estimated that the Japanese eat as much eel per year as the French - oysters. By the way, in Japan, guests often present smoked eel as a delicious gift to the table, similar to how we usually give a bottle of good wine or cake.

Our next adventure is a unique park "Wanji Sculpture Garden", where you will be offered a fascinating journey into the world of fantasy of the famous Italian sculptor. On the territory of the park there is a magnificent collection of monuments, admired by people from different countries and cities. In the garden of sculptures harmoniously coexist landscapes created by the best sculptor – nature, and works of human hands. The combination of nature and art gives visitors an unforgettable experience. Many pleasant and frightening surprises await us in this museum. The museum is divided into different sections and exhibition platforms both on the street and in buildings.

The museum is recommended for families with children. On the territory of the park there are playgrounds, a library, a children's cafe and many other interesting and informative things.
