Lake Tüzen-ji

Lake Chū zenji, Chugushi, Nikko, Tochigi, Japan 18 m

Description:

In Japan, near the city of Nikko is a beautiful mountain lake. It was formed 20,000 years ago as a result of a volcanic eruption.

At the end of winter, the first Japanese plum blooms on the shores. In April, the mountains that surround the amazing reservoir on all sides are covered with pale pink cherry blossoms. And in October, red maple leaves create the illusion of fire. The water in the lake is cold and not suitable for swimming. But in August, many pilgrims come here to dip in the sacred waters.

From a height of 97 meters in Tuzenji, the picturesque Kegon Falls fall. In summer, after rain in the spray of crystal clear water appears rainbow. And in winter, tourists are struck by a frozen, bizarre water cascade. On the elevator you can climb to the observation deck and enjoy an unforgettable sight.

The length of the coastline is 25 km. On the cleanest surface of the lake you can take a boat tour. In the eastern part of the lake is a small town, which is known for its hot springs.

You can get to the lake by passenger bus, from the railway station of the city of Nikko to the stop of Thuzenji. The trip will only take a few minutes. You can drive by car on the serpentine descending directly to the lake.
