East Bazaar
5-9-13 Jingu-Mae, Shibuya, Tokyo
Description:
Oriental Bazar is a four-story portal to ancient Japanese culture. This place should be visited by every traveler who wants to take with him a piece of real Japan.
This grandiose complex began with a small antique shop in 1916. And now, almost 100 years later, it is one of the most popular tourist destinations. The Oriental Bazaar is very proud of its name, which, incidentally, was accidentally thrown by one of the visitors, but the owners liked it very much, and fixed.
This huge souvenir shop is easy to recognize – its facade is made in the style of a Shinto temple, so it is difficult to pass by. Inside, there is a whole world that reflects all the characteristics of Japan.
The first thing I want to take out of Japan is a kimono. There are countless of them. Ornament of any season, embroidery of animals and plants, and of course, sakura decorate these national costumes.
Porcelain utensils and lamps, pots for Bonsai, traditional screens, kimono belts and fans - such a concentration of Japan is not found anywhere in Tokyo. Here you can also find Kokeshi - national dolls with a round head and a cylindrical body in small kimonos are most popular among souvenirs for children.
Oriental Bazar immerses in the history of Japan as much as any historical museum.
