Edo Tokyo Museum

The first thing that amazes the visitor is the museum itself. It can be seen directly from the platform of Ryogoku Station. A huge gray building on powerful columns is somewhat reminiscent of a frozen combat robot from the movie “Star Wars”. The highest point of the museum reaches 62.2 meters, which corresponds to the height of the tower of Edo Castle.

The Edo-Tokyo Museum was founded on March 28, 1993. The museum is a place where you can not only immerse yourself in the history and culture of ancient Tokyo, but also imagine what the city can become in the future. At the permanent exhibition you can find both original things and copies, large-scale models created after serious scientific research. The total area of the museum is 30,000 square meters, which is 2.4 times larger than the Tokyo Dome Stadium.
