City Hall building

City Hall, Paul Kruger Drive, Pretoria 0002, South Africa

Description:

One of the symbols of Durban is the City Hall. It was built in 1910 in Renaissance architectural style. The interior of the building is decorated with colorful stained glass windows and exquisite balustrades. The Town Hall building is a copy of its Northern Ireland counterpart.

City Hall attracts attention with its majestic dome, which rises 48 meters above the ground. Also in the architectural ensemble there are four domes decorated with statues. Each of the statues has its own meaning and symbolizes literature, music, art or trade.

The first floor of the town hall is home to the Natural Science Museum and the municipal library. The second floor houses the Durban Art Gallery.
