Boulders Beach

Boulders Beach, 4 Boulders Place, Cape Town 7975

Description:

One of the things you don’t expect to see when you visit an African country is penguins. A huge population of these funny birds settled on Boulders Beach near Cape Town.

Penguins on Boulders Beach appeared in 1982. Amazingly, only two nesting pairs lived here. Within a few years, the population of penguins has increased almost a thousand times and today exceeds 3000 individuals. Not the last role in this was played by the elimination of the nearby factory, engaged in the supply of sardines and anchovies, which are the main menu items in the daily diet of penguins.

Today, the beach Boulders is very popular with tourists. It is forbidden to approach the birds closer than a few meters.
