Capetown

Table Mountain

Show me on the map

Description:

The mountain got its name due to its absolutely flat top. From a distance, it really seems like a giant table covered with a tablecloth of clouds. Water flows, for many years flowing to the foot of the evergreen trees and shrubs, formed the "legs of the table." To the top you can climb the funicular or, if time and effort allow, one of three hundred hiking trails. Such a walk will take about three hours, and as a reward you will have a wonderful view of Cape Town and the entire Cape Peninsula.

The mountain is bordered by the peaks of the Twelve Apostles, the Devil and the Lion’s Head. It is part of the National Park-Reserve, where about two thousand unique plants grow, not found anywhere else.
