Marakele National Park
Description:
Maracale National Park is located on the border of two climatic zones, humid and arid, in the Limpopo province of South Africa. Translated Marakale means “refuge”.
Founded in 1994, Maracale is currently considering expanding the park.
Most of the reserve is represented by the flora and fauna of the mountain savannah of the Waterberg Range. Despite the fact that the park grows more than 800 species of plants, the main percentage of vegetation falls on the shrub prickly veld, well adapted to the arid zone.
Near the Matlabas river, comfortable conditions for animal life have formed, where more of them are concentrated. The park is inhabited by elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards, antelopes. On the mountain slopes nests a large colony of Cape vultures.
