Kgalagadi National Park

South Africa, Northern Cape Province

Description:

On the border of the two countries in South Africa South Africa and Botswana is located one of the most beautiful national parks of the continent Cross-border National Park Kgalagadi.

The border between the countries is marked by bleached stones, and animals can move freely through the vast territory of the reserve. The scale of the area occupied by the national park is huge, more than 3 million hectares are allocated for its lands. The reserve is included in the list of the largest in the world.

Founded in 1931, the main goal was to stop poaching in a unique place in the Kalahari Desert.

The reserve is the best place to watch lions, which is possible due to the sparse vegetation in this part of South Africa.

But desert landscapes do not indicate the absence of life, there is quite a rich flora and fauna. The park is home to more than 58 species of animals: antelopes, gazelles, anteaters, foxes, black-maned lion, sulfur bull (a symbol of the park). It is interesting to watch cute meerkats, who lead a rather complex organized family life. Of birds, great curiosity is caused by birds of prey (eagles, vultures, hawks), which prevail here.

Comfortable camps Twee Rivieren, Mata-Mata and Nossob are organized for tourists in the park, from where the main travel routes of the reserve begin.
