Santa Lucia National Reserve
St Lucia MPA, South Africa 519 mC
Description:
The Santa Lucia National Reserve is a major tourist attraction in the South African region of Maputuland.
In the center of the reserve is the lake of the same name, stretching for 85 kilometers (despite the fact that the maximum depth of Lake Santa Lucia hardly exceeds a meter and a half). The age of the lake is amazing - it appeared here tens of millions of years ago.
The inhabitants of the reserve are thousands of hippos and crocodiles, as well as a great variety of bird species. Tourists are invited to make morning and evening safaris in order to watch wild animals from a boat or a small ship. Another popular local entertainment is excellent fishing.
