Kruger Park

Kruger Park, South Africa 678 m Yu

Description:

One of the most visited places in South Africa is Kruger National Park. A huge reserve occupies 19 thousand square kilometers of African land, which is home to a great many animals and birds. According to the most modest indicators, Kruger Park is home to 25,000 buffaloes, 9,000 giraffes, 3,000 hippopotamuses, 2,000 lions, 11,000 elephants, 5 white rhinos, 17,000 wildebeest, 2,000 hyenas, and 1,000 cheetahs.

Kruger Park was established in 1902. The reason for this was the mass extermination of animals, which arose as a result of the local gold rush, arranged by Europeans in the early nineteenth century. Subsequently, a mass shooting of predators was also undertaken in order to prevent them from destroying the antelope population.
