Day of the beginning of the confrontation between South Ossetia and Georgia
Description:
The events that day developed as follows. Under the guise of a peaceful demonstration, nationalists led by Zviad Gamsakhurdia organized a march of thousands to Tskhinvali. For little Tskhinvali, this was tantamount to war. A spontaneously formed small group of South Ossetian boys blocked the road at the entrance to the city and stopped a column of numerous buses and cars heading from Georgia.
Later it turned out that on November 23, 1989, more than 400 buses of the Ikarus brand with Georgian patriots passed in the direction of Gori-Tskhinval. With this armada of buses in the direction of Tskhinval moved at least 300 private cars. According to various estimates, there were between 50,000 and 100,000 people in the convoy, many of whom were armed.
This day, although it is a tragic date for South Ossetia - the beginning of aggression, is not mourning for the Ossetians. It was the day of their unity, their common resistance to the enemy. This is a holiday, because South Ossetia was able to withstand such an armada thanks to the courage of its youth.
