Today in South Ossetia celebrate a fairly young holiday - the Day of the Ossetian language and literature. This holiday is also celebrated in the northern part of Ossetia since 2002. The great emotional significance of this holiday is difficult to overestimate, without language there is no nation.

The Ossetian language is rich, beautiful, complex. And this holiday is the reason to enjoy the sound and pronunciation of native speech. Its task is to multiply the love of the younger generation to their native language, so that children absorb it with their mother’s milk, with the first lullabies and fairy tales.

It is significant that the holiday is celebrated on the day when in 1899 the book of the founder of Ossetian literature Kosta Khetagurov “Iron Fandyr” was published.

On this day, the schools of the republic host seminars for teachers of the Ossetian language and literature, open lessons of the Ossetian language, competitions for the best Ossetian poems, songs and dances.
