Sambu National Park

Zambia, Sambu National Park

Description:

Sambu National Park is located on the southern shores of Lake Tanganyika, in the northernmost part of Zambia. It covers an area of just over 2,000 square kilometers, including 100 kilometers of the pristine shores of this great lake. Here you can find picturesque sandy beaches, rocky coves and bays, valleys with green hills. The Lufubu River flows through the park, pouring its waters into Lake Tanganyika.

The western part of the national park borders the Tondwa hunting grounds. Other hunting grounds, Caputa, are located in the north and southeast of the park, on an area of 360,000 hectares. In addition to the Lufubu River, which cuts the park from west to east, the Nkamba and Chisala rivers also flow through the park. Rivers form valleys with a rich and amazing animal world. On the shores of the lake there is a local natural attraction - unusual boulders balancing on the tops of each other.

You can get to the park by taxi from the town of Kasab or Nkamba, where you can fly from Lusaka or Ndola airport. You can also reach the river by boat, taking a regular flight in the city of Mpulungu.
