Kundalila Falls

Zambia, Central Province, d. canon

Description:

Kundalila Falls is located on the Kaombe River in Zambia, near the town of Kanona, Serenya County. The water falling from the slope of Muching creates a breathtaking view of the natural elements. Translated from the local language Bemba, the name Kundalila means “Crouching Pigeon”. If you listen to the sound of falling water, in the natural silence you can hear bird chirps.

The top of the falls offers a beautiful view of the Luangwa Valley, which is part of the Albertine Fault, the western branch of the East African Geological Fault. Overcoming several rapids, the water falls down from a height of 80 meters. At the foot of the waterfall overlooks the valley, where you can admire the falling water surrounded by wild African plants. Here you can swim in the purest waters of Kaombe and set up a tent camp to relax after a long journey.

Kundalila Falls is on the official list of Zambian Nature Monuments.

To get to the falls, you need to take the T2 highway to the town of Canona, where you will see the sign "Kundalila Falls 14km - National Monument". After driving 500 meters in the specified direction, after crossing the TAZARA railway tracks, a waterfall will be visible at the end of the road.
