Lumangwe Falls

d. Mpokoso, Zambia

Description:

Lumangwe Falls, located on the Kalungwishi River, which flows in the north of Zambia, is the largest waterfall of all that are in this country. The waterfall is located 80 kilometers from the city of Mpokoso, in the direction of the city of Kawambwa. Lumangwe Falls is one of the most beautiful natural attractions of the northern part of the country.

Having a similar height of falling water, Lumangwe Falls is often confused in photos with the famous Victoria Falls. In the midst of the rainy season, which usually falls on April-May, water splashes fly up to a hundred meters, and the roar of water can be heard for several kilometers.

You can get to the waterfall by driving 10 kilometers along a dirt road that turns west from the Kawambwa-Mpokoso highway, northeast of the capital bridge Kalungvishi Chipempe. This bridge was replaced in 2004 by the old Kalungwishi Ferri Pontoon Bridge.

An excellent view of the waterfall opens from the opposite bank of the river, where you can not only admire the miracle of nature, but also feel the touch of its drops. You can also go down to the foot of the waterfall, and further downstream, to the gorge of Kalungvishi Ferri, which offers a stunning view of the falling water.
