National Heroes Day in Zimbabwe

Description:

Day of National Heroes
Every country has its heroes... and there is one special day of the year when both the country and the people pay tribute to their heroes. Zimbabwe and its people reflect on the significance of their heroes on August 11.

Unfortunately, the days when in every suburb, in every village, a goat, a cow, a chicken were slaughtered in honor of the holiday and a magnificent table was arranged, at which both old and young remembered the exploits of their national heroes who made independence possible and through whose efforts the New Zimbabwe was created.

Today, people are puzzled by more mundane questions – how to earn money, how to feed a family. For these concerns, they forget to celebrate this holiday, which until recently was considered sacred.

However, there is hope that the holiday is not only revived, but also get a new, somewhat different life. And together with the national heroes of the past who fought for Zimbabwe’s independence, this day will also honor the heroes of the current generation who are rebuilding Zimbabwe.
