Good Friday

Description:

Good Friday
In Zimbabwe, today for Catholic believers is Good Friday. Good Friday is a sign of sadness and grief and represents the death of Jesus. It was on this day that Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross.

The suffering of a crucified man cannot be described. In addition to the unbearable pains, the crucified man experienced a terrible thirst and deadly mental longing.

Death was so slow that many suffered on crosses for several days. Even the executioners could not look coldly at the suffering of the crucified. They prepared a drink with which they tried either to quench their unbearable thirst, or by admixture of various substances temporarily dull their consciousness and relieve their suffering.

When they brought Jesus to Calvary, the soldiers gave Him sour wine mixed with bitter substances to relieve suffering. When God tried it, he did not want to drink it. He didn't want to relieve his suffering. These sufferings He took upon Himself voluntarily for the sins of men and desired to endure them to the end.

Good Friday is the only day of the year when the Liturgy is not celebrated. Instead, in the temples, the worship of the Cross and a special ceremony called the “Way of the Cross” are performed.
