Matobo National Park
Description:
Matobo National Park is considered one of the largest reserves in Zimbabwe. The park is a picturesque rocky area. The reserve owes its name to the mighty Matobo hills, also known as the "bald hills".
The park has been operating since 1953. The reserve covers an area of 44,500 hectares. Like some other parks in Zimbabwe, Matobo Park was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003.
Locals have long considered this land sacred. Here you can find the remains of ancient buildings with various ritual cave paintings. The park, in addition to its extraordinary beauties, is inhabited by rare species of animals, such as the sable antelope, black and white rhinoceros.
