Skanderbeg Monument

square

Description:

The monument to Skanderbeg Albania of Tirana was erected in honor of the Albanian warrior, the legendary generalissimo of Albania during the struggle for independence from the Ottoman Empire. The monument was unveiled in 2017 in the Albanian capital, on the centenary of Skanderbeg’s birth. The monument is a figure of a man in armor and a helmet, on whose head is a Malahai cap. He's holding a sword. On the left side in his hand is a shield with the coat of arms of the Albanian People’s Republic – a tiger on the shield. On the right side of the monument is the coat of arms of Albania, and between these two coats of arms lies a laurel wreath. Now the monument to Skanderbeg is the only monument in the world to a real Albanian hero.

The monument to Skanderbeg is located in the Piriunkala district, in the center of the city of Tirana. Near the monument there are many cafes, restaurants and shops.
