The mountain gorges of Escoipe and De la Cuesta del Obispo reach a height of 3,348 meters and are the beginning of the Los Cardones National Park (Cactus Park).
It is easy to guess that in this area grows a lot of cacti cardon - all of them in combination with the beautiful mountains produce exciting impressions. Cacti in the gorges grow in the form of columns up to three meters high. Some cacti are almost 300 years old.
Some locals still believe that the large cacti growing here are guardians of the mountains, scaring off foreigners.
