Pentecost in Armenia

Description:

The Descent of the Holy Spirit
The period from Easter to the day of the Descent of the Holy Spirit lasts 50 days and is called Pentecoste, which translates from Greek as “50 days”. Initially, Pentecost was one of the main festivals of the Jewish people and was established in memory of God’s granting of the law to His people and was celebrated on the fiftieth day of Passover.

Christians borrowed the celebration of Pentecost, because at the same time, but already in the year of Christ’s ascension, the Holy Spirit descended on the apostles. One day, while they were waiting for Christ’s promised Comforter, a noise suddenly appeared from heaven, as if from a rushing strong wind, and filled the whole house where they were.

And there appeared to them dividing tongues, like fiery tongues, and they rested one upon each of them. And all were filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them to proclaim.
