World Meteorology Day
Description:
Currently, there are 42 meteorological, 3 specialized and 7 hydrological stations, 3 agro-meteorological and 92 water measuring observation points in Armenia. According to Levon Vardanyan, director of the State Hydrometeorology and Monitoring Service (Armgoshydromet), these stations and observation posts monitor the state of air, water, and land.
Armenia has been a member of the World Meteorological Organization since 1961. The first meteorological observations in Armenia were conducted in 1843 in Gyumri.
