Cafe Dommayer
Dommayergasse 1, 1130 Wien, Austria
About the company:
Café Dommayer is located at the corner of Dommayergasse and Auhofstraß e, near Schönbruen Palace Park.
It is believed that it appeared in 1787, when a local waiter Dick built a house here. In 1823 it housed a hotel and in 1832 a casino. In 1844, on October 15, the then unknown Johann Strauss performed on the casino stage with his first concert. In 1854, the casino ceased to operate and a cafe was opened in its place. However, in 1908 the building was demolished and the cafe had to be moved.
A new café was opened at Dommayergasse. It changed its owners several times, burned and restored. The last owner acquired the property in 2006 and still owns the cafe. The exquisite and sophisticated design of the Art Deco cafe attracts creative people here. The cafe has served as a film set many times.
Today you can taste several types of cakes, cookies and sweets.
