Minorite church
Minoritenplatz 2A 1010 Wien, Austria
Description:
The Minorite Church, located on the square of the same name, is one of the oldest Gothic churches in Austria. It was built by minorites in the XIII century. Over time, as a result of restorations and extensions, the appearance of the building changed slightly.
After the expulsion of the Minorites, the church was consecrated in honor of Maria Snezhna and declared an Italian church. In the XIX century, the temple placed a mosaic copy of the “Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci, who wrote it on the orders of Napoleon.
In 1900, the church built a guardian.
The classic interior of the building is complemented by works of art such as “Leopold III Founds Klosterneuburg” by Altomonte, “Maria Schnee” by Unterberger, etc.
