St. Anne's Church

Annagasse 3b, Vienna, Austria

Description:

The Church of St. Anne was originally a small chapel in Vienna. It was built in 1320. At first, the building was made in the late Gothic style. In the XVII century, it was rebuilt, and the Baroque style became dominant. Elements of Gothic remained only in some details of the church. In the XVIII century, the temple suffered from a thunderstorm, a fire broke out. After thorough repairs, the church appeared before parishioners in the late Baroque style. The ceiling of the temple is decorated with frescoes by Daniel Gran. He painted the main altar.

Over the interior of the temple also worked Kremzer Schmidt and Christoph Tausch. Tourists can admire the sculpture of the composition of 1505, which, according to assumptions, made Veit Stos. It depicts Mary and Jesus, next to Saint Anna.

The main treasure of the church is the relics of St. Anne, they can be seen on July 26, only once a year.
