Blue Note – Monument to Chopin

Schweizergarten, Vienna, Austria

Description:

Chopin gained fame as a romantic composer. He was inspired by the French writer George Sand. He dedicated his last work, The Blue Note. The monument to Chopin in the Austrian capital looks unusual. This is a flat human profile, from which a figure flies, which can be mistaken for both a bird and a creative thought.

Chopin is a child prodigy, the son of a Polish mother and a French father. He was born in Warsaw and spent his life in Paris. He wrote a large number of pieces for piano, mainly for solo performance. He has two piano concertos, several chamber works and songs. Chopin invented an instrumental ballad, gave a new interpretation to many genres, gave a new poetic and dramatic spirit to dances - polonaise, mazurka, waltz. His works are distinguished by sincerity and depth of feelings, which are combined with technical perfection.
